Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about solar and renewable energy in Kenya.

folder_openGetting Started

Solar system costs in Kenya vary significantly based on system size, battery choice, and application. A basic off-grid starter kit starts from KES 38,000, a home hybrid system typically ranges from KES 200,000 to KES 600,000, and commercial installations are quoted on a per-project basis. We provide a detailed, itemised assessment at no obligation — contact us to get an accurate figure for your specific needs.
Residential installations typically take 1–3 days. Commercial or agricultural systems requiring structural engineering, trenching, or grid interconnection may take 1–3 weeks. We provide a project timeline at the design stage so you can plan accordingly.
Yes. We have installed systems across Kenya including Nakuru, Naivasha, the Coast, and remote agricultural sites. Reach out with your location and we'll confirm coverage and logistics.

folder_openSystem Types

Grid-tied systems feed excess power back to the Kenya Power grid but provide no backup during outages. Hybrid systems combine solar, battery storage and grid connection — giving you backup power and reduced bills simultaneously. Off-grid systems operate entirely independently of the grid, ideal for remote locations or properties seeking full energy autonomy.
Not necessarily. A grid-tied system without batteries can significantly reduce your KPLC bill during daylight hours. However, if you need backup during blackouts or want energy independence, a battery bank is essential. We help you evaluate the cost-benefit based on your actual outage frequency and usage profile.
System size depends on your monthly electricity consumption (kWh), peak demand (kW), available roof or ground space, and whether you want partial or full offset. Our engineers conduct a proper site assessment and energy audit to recommend the right system — not a one-size-fits-all estimate.
Yes. Our off-grid starter kits (Entry, Standard, Extended) are designed with expansion in mind. You can add panels, upgrade the battery bank, or integrate a grid connection later without replacing core components.
A portable power station is a self-contained unit — charged from a wall socket, car or solar panel — ideal for apartments, renters, events and short outages. A full backup system integrates with your building's wiring and can power critical loads (refrigerators, water pumps, lighting) for extended periods. We offer both; the right choice depends on your load and outage duration.

folder_openInstallation & Maintenance

Yes. Our installation team operates under EPRA (Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority) licensing, as required by Kenyan law for renewable energy installation and commissioning. All our designs are engineered and stamped before installation.
Solar PV systems are largely maintenance-free. We recommend a professional inspection and panel cleaning every 6–12 months. Battery systems (especially lead-acid) require periodic electrolyte checks. Lithium-ion batteries are virtually maintenance-free. We offer after-sales service contracts.
Warranties vary by component. Typical solar panels carry a 25-year performance warranty and 10-year product warranty. Inverters typically carry 2–5 years, batteries 2–10 years depending on chemistry. We provide full warranty documentation and serve as your first point of contact for any warranty claim.

folder_openFinancing

Yes. We offer lease-to-own financing options that allow you to start saving on energy costs immediately with a manageable monthly payment. Terms and eligibility are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to explore what's available for your project size.
